Ed was born on September 9, 1953 to Edward Sr. and Bertha (Roerick) Goldade in Mandan. He was the oldest of twelve children. He graduated from Mandan High School in 1972. After high school he met and fell in love with Janie Jaborski and they were married in Belfield at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church on November 24, 1973. They moved around a bit from Fort Benton, MT to Mandan in their early years of marriage and finally landed in Dickinson in 1975. Thanks to our Dear Lord through the Blessed Mother they raised their two boys; Jared and Jordan. Their home provided them with the most breathtaking views and room to grow their family and hobbies; which included gardening, tinkering on vehicles, hosting friends for pinochle, and evening golf cart rides.
Ed worked for BNSF Railroad for the vast majority of his career. After retirement, he enjoyed rebuilding vehicles and always had more than one project to work on. He was always found with a wrench, a cigarette and a cup of coffee in his hands. He spent many hours drinking coffee and talking with his friends at the Paragon. His remarkable ability to strike up a conversation with anyone and ability of knowing how to fix just about anything made him a friend to many.
Ed was a dedicated and devout Roman Catholic with great devotion to Our Heavenly Mother Mary and through her, to God. He devoted his life to raising his children and instilled in his sons’ strong faith and values. Starting and ending his day in prayer, Ed said his daily rosary, a joy and daily duty that was never forgotten. He treasured his children and especially loved his role as grandpa to his sweet Jonah and Mackenzie, with whom he found great joy.
Ed is survived by his children, Jared (Paige) Goldade, Sioux Falls, SD, and Jordan Goldade, Dickinson; grandchildren, Jonah and Mackenzie Goldade, Sioux Falls; his siblings, Carol (Paul) Gieser, Mandan, Michael (Marge) Goldade, St, Mary’s, Kan., JoAnne Campbell, St. Mary’s, Kenneth (JoAnn) Goldade, Mandan, Thomas (Collette) Goldade, St. Mary’s, James (Sandy) Goldade, Eyota, Minn., Theresa Skierka, Pompey’s Piller, Mont., Barbara (Kenneth) Simek, Dickinson, Sister Maria Magdalena F.M., White Bear Lake, Minn., Robert (Jessica) Goldade, Long Prairie, Minn., and Joseph (Brenda) Goldade, St. Mary’s along with over 100 nieces and nephews and nearly 150 great-nieces and nephews; and a host of other beloved family members and long time friends to whom he deeply treasured.
