Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Froehlich, age 71, of Northfield, Minnesota, formerly of Belfield, North Dakota, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Benedictine Living Community in Northfield.

Betty’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2024 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield, with Fr. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Inurnment will take place at St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m.

Born in the winter chill of January 4, 1952, in Dickinson, North Dakota, she was the beloved daughter of Paul and Florence (Renner) Berger. Her life was a testament to the virtues of love, kindness, and selflessness, and she will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.

Betty spent her early years in Hebron, North Dakota, then New Leipzig, before her family moved to Belfield in 1962. It was there she graduated from Belfield High School, a place where she not only gained knowledge but also met her high school sweetheart, Francis Froehlich. The two were united in holy matrimony on October 3, 1970, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Belfield, a union that was blessed with two children, Francis and Laura.

Betty was a woman of diligence and dedication. She began her professional journey as a bookkeeper for Fairway Foods, demonstrating her meticulous nature and commitment to her work. Her career took a turn when she joined the United States Postal Service as a clerk, eventually retiring as a supervisor after 30 years of service in 2011. Her work ethic was admirable, and she was respected by her colleagues and friends alike.

In the midst of her busy life, Betty found joy in the simple pleasures. She had a love for crafts and ceramics, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her creativity and attention to detail. In her retirement, she enjoyed a bit of traveling, exploring new places and making memories. But the joy of her life was her grandchildren, Sadie and Chase. She cherished every moment spent with them, their laughter and smiles lighting up her world.

Betty was a pillar of her community, always ready to lend a helping hand. She volunteered at St. Bernard’s, making meals and contributing in any way she could. Her outgoing nature and kind heart and joyful laugh made her a beloved figure, and her absence will be deeply felt. Betty was a woman of strength, kindness, and love. She lived her life with grace and dignity, touching the lives of all who knew her.

Betty is survived by her devoted husband, Francis; children, Francis of East Grand Forks, MN, and Laura (Dion) Kuhn of Dundas, MN; grandchildren, Sadie Froehlich and Chase Kuhn; and siblings, LeRoy, Paul, Kevin, Steve, Paulette, Kathy, Sandi, and Janet. Each of them holds precious memories of Betty, memories that will keep her spirit alive in their hearts.
