The Lord called him to Heaven, Monday, January 15, 2024, at the age of 93, while at Marian Manor in Glen Ullin. Emil’s Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Friday, January 19, 2024 at Hillside Baptist Church, Dickinson with Rev. Rob Grunden as officiant. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Military Honors will be provided by the Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Emil was born October 22, 1930 on the farm south of Hebron to Fred and Magdalena (Scheuffele) Wiege. He worked on the family farm, helping neighbors, working at the Hebron Bowling Alley and the Brick Yard. Emil then served active duty in the US Army from October 24, 1951 to July 23, 1953 in the Korean War as Communications Chief.

Emil married Delores Elizabeth Hellman on October 27, 1955 and together they had three sons, Doug, Scott, and Shawn. After they were married, Emil started working for West Plains Electric as a hardware assembler. Emil worked there for 36 years, the last 15 years as the manager after which he retired and spent time with his wife and taking care of her. During his time at West Plains, he and Delores enjoyed visiting relatives, gardening, and bowling. Emil was an avid and accomplished bowler.

Emil is survived by his sons, Doug (Corrine), Scott, and Shawn; five grandchildren, Kris (Brandi), Gage, Katelyn (Shawn) McMahen, Tanner, and Taylor; eight great-grandchildren, Jaida, Averi, Chanelle, Salem, Brystol, Payton, Sophia, and Rosaleigh; one sister, Irene Hausauer; one brother, Elmer (Delores) Wiege; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores, on December 5, 2010; his parents; and siblings, John Wiege, Adeline Renner, Art Wiege, Herbert Wiege, Esther Wiege, Anna Roth, Louie Wiege, and Gertrude Wiege.
