Florence “Flo” Billig, 90, Dickinson, died Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Edgewood Hawks Point, Dickinson. A Liturgy of Word Service, for Flo will be at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Deacon Bob Stockert presiding. Inurnment will take place later at Holy Trinity Church Cemetery, Royalton, MN. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Ladbury Funeral Service.
Florence “Flo” Bymers was born January 23, 1933 in Foley, MN, the daughter of Lester and Nethaline (Latterell) Bymers. She was raised on a farm in Foley. She attended and graduated from Foley High School in 1951. She worked at the St. Cloud, MN Diocese from 1952-1954.
Florence was united in to marriage James “Jim” Billig on May 18, 1954 at St. John’s Church in Foley. They made their home in Royalton, MN and lived there for 53 years where they were members of the Holy Trinity Church. She worked as a bookkeeper at Royalton Public School from 1967 to 1990. She moved to Dickinson to be near family in 2007 and while in Dickinson was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Florence enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, loved playing cards with family, and crossword puzzles. She was an animal lover and especially her two boxers.
Florence is survived by her children, Diane Gomez, Marlton, NJ, Janine (Phil) Macey, Browns Mills, NJ, Maureen (Al) Webster, Dickinson, and Randy Billig, Dickinson; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; sisters, LaJean Dziuk and Bernice Billig; her parents; brothers-in-law, Gary Dzuik and Jerome Billig.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Special Olympics or to an animal rescue organization.
