Marilyn June Madler was born on June 15, 1940, on her family farm north of New England. She grew up with her five siblings all helping on the farm doing household chores, hiking in the hills, picking berries and playing childhood games. Marilyn was educated at New England Saint Mary’s before she attended Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD where she obtained her teaching certificate. Her first teaching assignment was at the catholic grade school in Mandan.  She then taught in Baker, MT when she and her soon to be husband Gene, started dating.

Marilyn and Gene, were married on June 6, 1964, and lived on the farm 12 miles northwest of New England. They embraced the farm life raising cattle, chickens and various crops while bringing up their four children.

There were many things that brought Marilyn happiness including sewing, quilting, embroidery, crafting, and macrame. Growing and canning vegetables was some of her many contributions on the farm, but what brought her much pride was bringing her fresh cut Gladiolus to church for weekend masses. She loved attending her children’s school events, socializing with friends while playing cards, bowling, and golfing. Marilyn ended most nights with a book in her hand.

She worked as a bookkeeper at Slope Insurance and later as the secretary at Saint Mary’s parish under Father Williams. Marilyn contributed as a member of the Booster Club, St. Pius Club, and had many leadership roles in the Altar Guild.

One of Marilyn’s greatest joys was spending time with her family. She took immense pride in being a grandma to her 13 grandchildren. Her nurturing love left a lasting impact on their lives.

During their retirement years, Marilyn and Gene spent their free time cruising and traveling the US and Europe, but nothing was better than the moments spent at the lake cabin fishing and admiring the beautiful view.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Gene; children, Pamela (Brian) Wood, Jacquelyn (Curtis) Delplanche, Ronald (Kimberly Binstock) Wert, and Lori (Jonathon) Jung; grandchildren: Kathryn Wood, James Wood, Brandon Delplanche, Isabelle (Payton) Hudson, Stephan Delplanche, Raphael Delplanche, Dominic Delplanche, Austin Wert, Alex Wert, Katie Wert, Kami Wert, Elijah Jung, and Gabrielle Jung; siblings, Robert (Carol) Madler, Arlene (Arnie) Gartner, David (Emily) Madler, Diane (Jim) Hannigan, and Alan Madler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Elizabeth Madler; nephews, Kevin Gartner, Drew Madler, and Dean (Lea) Madler.
