Mavis N. Berger, 89, a long time community resident, died Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. Mavis’ Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton, with Fr. Thomas Wordekemper, OSB as the celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Pioneer Cemetery, Taylor. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday at Ladbury Funeral Service and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. There will be a rosary at 7 p.m., Monday, at Ladbury Funeral Service.
Mavis was born October 20, 1927 to Jasper and Frances (Brecken) Jesperson. Mavis enjoyed a rich life filled with many hobbies and friends. Mavis enjoyed needle point, card playing, socializing with the community and was active with the Women’s Auxiliary. Very early on she taught at rural schools near Richardton. She married her husband Walter on May 10th, 1948 at the age of 21. They went on to establish Berger Grocery in Taylor. She is remembered as a pillar to the community and was a friend to many.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter R. Berger; daughter Janet Ferrel; brothers, Leland Jesperson, William Jesperson and sister Ethel Jesperson. Mavis is survived by her siblings Norman (Bonnie) Jesperson, Geraldine (Lawrence) Schilla; daughters Linda Berger, Audrey (George) Heiney, son Terry (Kathy) Berger, daughter Carol (Jim) Menke; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
