Michael Kent Hildebrand was born on June 19, 1944, to Del and Mary Ellen (Crimmins) Hildebrand. While growing up he became interested in speed which served him well through the years.
Mike proudly served as part of the Army infantry in Vietnam from January of 1968 to December of 1969. Sergeant Hildebrand was honorably discharged and later awarded multiple medals of service. Upon leaving the military, he worked at Cloverdale, Carlson Homes and as Plant Superintendent for Dickinson Truss Services before starting his own business, Dakota Carpet Cleaning. In the nearly 35 years of owning his own business he cleaned many carpets, chimneys and installed stoves and fireplaces.
Mike loved his two children, Kurt and Brandi, unconditionally and enjoyed watching them grow up.
Mike’s need for speed grew over the years. He was an avid motorcycle and snowmobile racer. Some would say he liked speed not only on the racetrack but off the track as well. He owned various motorcycles and cars and took meticulous care of each machine. He had a love of tennis and fitness, working hard to stay healthy throughout his life.
Mike could also be found at a gun range. His shooting skills earned him various qualification badges during his time in the Army. He liked to shoot at different ranges, then return home to reload his shells for his next trip to the range.
Mike met the love of his life, Margie, and the two were married in July of 2013. She became his partner in life and on the trike. The true sparkle in his eye was Margie. They made multiple trips over the years to South Dakota camping and riding the open roads. One of his favorite places was the ride to Devil’s Tower.
Mike loved to goof around and make people smile. Family meant everything to him. He was a true friend and confidant. His grin will be forever missed.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Margie; son, Kurt Hildebrand; daughter, Brandi Hildebrand; stepchildren, Dave (Jenn Quigley) Lennick, Wade Lennick, and Chad (Tina Gustafson) Lennick; brothers, Del (Lucy) and Denny (Jan); sister, Cheryl Loerch; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim; and brother-in-law John Loerch.
