Mike Walton, 67, Dickinson, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026 at Benedictine Living Community Dickinson with family by his side. Mike Walton’s Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 a.m., Friday, June 26, 2026 at Ladbury Funeral Service with Pastor Gary Ladbury as officiant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Page Cemetery, Page Township, ND.
Richard Michael Walton was born March 27,1959 in Colorado Springs, CO, the son of James Robert and Elizabeth Louise (Dzuris) Walton. He was raised and educated in Colorado Springs where he graduated from Harrison High School in 1977. He worked at Broadmoor golf course for a period of time. Mike, on an Evans Scholarship pursued his higher education at University of Colorado in Boulder where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science. Mike worked as a Funeral Director at Evergreen Funeral Home in Colorado Springs.
Mike married Karen Marie Erickson on April 13, 1985 in Page and they were blessed with two daughters, Paige (1987) and Katelyn (1991). He spent just short of 30 years as the ND State Health Inspector. Following retirement, he went to work for Southwest District Health Unit. He loved both of these jobs.
He belonged to the Eagles Club, Amateur Ham Radio Club, Evans Scholar Alumni, Fish Hatchery in Spearfish, SD, and was a Roughrider member of Medora. Mike was an avid, loyal Blue Hawks and Big Sticks fan.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Karen Walton, Dickinson; daughters, Paige Marie (Matthew) Corcoran, Sioux Falls, SD, and Katelyn Anne (Andrew) Harmon, Billings, MT; grandchildren, Connor, Carson, Amelia and Allison Corcoran, and expecting baby Harmon; siblings, James Donald “Don” Walton, Winnemucca, NV, and Patricia MacMahon, Logan, UT; in-laws, Butch (Cindy) Erickson, Joel (Karen) Erickson, Gary (Diane) Erickson, Vicky Erickson, David (Debbie) Erickson, Hans (Mary) Erickson, and Judy Workin; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Ernest “Ole” and Joanne Erickson; sister-in-law, Lynda Walton, brothers-in-law, Jim MacMahon, and Mike Workin.
