Saturday, April 20, 2024

Olga Joan Lingle, 89, Circle, MT, formerly of Taylor, ND, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Benedictine Living Community, Dickinson, ND with family by her side. Olga’s Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the Taylor Opera House, Taylor. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Taylor Lutheran Cemetery.

Olga Joan Gjermundson was born to Sven and Eva (Carlson) Gjermundson on September 10, 1934, east of Halliday, ND. Olga was welcomed home by her two older sisters, Sylvia and Clara.

While Sven worked for various farmers in Dunn County, ND, Olga completed her grade school years. After eighth grade, Olga took a year off from school to stay home and help her parents with her four younger brothers, Stanley, Larry, Paul, and Bob, and baby sister, June. Olga attended high school in Taylor, while staying with her sister and brother-in-law and her superintendent and family. In 1954, she graduated from Taylor High as class Valedictorian. Olga started college at Dickinson Teacher’s College in 1954 and got her one-year rural certificate. She eventually went back to college in 1962 and received her two-year standard certificate.

Olga’s daughter Carla was born June 28, 1961. In 1963, Sven and Eva officially moved to Taylor and bought a family home with Olga’s assistance, so that the family always had “a place to go”.

Olga taught in various country schools in North Dakota until she moved to Circle in 1966 and taught in Brockway, MT for a year. Her final teaching assignment was for Circle Public Schools, where she taught 3rd and 4th grade.

While living in Circle, Olga met Evan Lingle. Olga and Evan were married on July 17, 1968. Evan’s two children, Johnny and LaWanna joined the family.

Olga’s love for children led to her second career where she babysat in her home for 20 years. Through this experience, she became “auntie” to many and made lifelong friends.

Evan and Olga celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on July 24, 1993, and Evan passed away four months later. After Evan died, Olga wasn’t ready to retire and decided to try “one more thing.” Olga started working in the kitchen at the nursing home in 1994 and stayed for 13 years!

Olga was a generous soul. She dedicated many years in service to others and was involved in various community activities. Olga’s passion was quilting. She was one of the “quilting ladies” at the Lutheran Church in Circle for many years. Her perfectly stitched quilts enriched the lives of many loved ones and children in foreign countries.

Olga’s one true love was her family, both near and far. She generously loved and supported them in all their endeavors.

Survived by Olga is her daughter, Carla (Nick) Schriver; stepdaughter, LaWanna Moran; grandchildren, Sunny Schriver, children, Allden and Attley and Carson (Brenna) Schriver, children, Haven, Oaklynn, Emmitt, and Everett, Jodi Grinsteiner, Bo Lingle, Jamie Lingle, Callie Burman, Justin Moran, Nicholas Moran; sisters, Sylvia (Bill) Wendland, and June (Marlin) Rambousek; brothers, Stanley, Larry, Paul, and Bob (Eileen) Gjermundson; brother-in-law, Ingvald Paulson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eva, and Sven Gjermundson; husband, Evan Lingle; sister, Clara Paulson; sister-in-law, Sharon Gjermundson; brother-in-law, Clarence Hansen; stepson, Johnny Lingle; and niece, Lynn (Gjermundson) Hall.
