Paul T. Steiner, 69, formerly of New England and Dickinson, died Tuesday, January 24, 2023 in Hot Springs, SD. Paul’s Memorial Service will be at 6:30 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2023 at New Life Pentecostal Church, 501 Elks Drive, Dickinson. Military flag presentation will be provided by a member of the Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard. Inurnment will take place at the Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD later in May.

Paul Thomas Steiner was born August 23, 1953 to Jack and Ruth Steiner. He spent most of his grade school years in New England. The family then moved to Dickinson where he graduated from Trinity High School. Following graduation he joined the US Navy and served honorably for six years. During his military service his main job was to decipher aerial maps for planes during the Vietnam War.

He hitch-hiked around the country; so he lived in many places. The eastern half of the country is where he said he never really travelled to. Mainly he lived in Arizona, South Dakota and North Dakota. He was a very intelligent man, but patience was not one of his virtues, but vocalizing it loudly with colorful language was one of his traits.

Paul married Sandy Steckler in October 2000, and became stepfather to her six children. During that time he mostly worked for Tooz Construction.

He liked hunting and fishing, and his step-daughters remember him most for taking them fishing. He also gave them driving lessons, but when he tried to teach them to drive a clutch was like watching a comedy show for the rest of us. That accomplishment was never achieved.

Paul is survived by his wife, Sandy; his daughters, Rhiannon (Matt) Frank, and Alicia Kaufmann; step-children, Justin (Sarita), Brendan (Kristin), Crystalyn, Nalani (Rob), and Tiffany (Jamie); brothers, Greg, Tim, Mark and Jack; and sisters, Josette, Marybeth, Kristin, and Sara.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-son, Kenton; and brother, Leon.
