Peter “Pete” Krug, 93, formerly of Dickinson, died on Thursday, December 6, 2023 La Salle, IL. Pete’s Funeral Service will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Pastor Mike Pretzer officiating. Interment will take place at the Dickinson Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Peter Ewald Krug was born April 7, 1930 in Richardton, the son of Peter and Anna (Alpert) Krug. He went to school in Havelock and country schools south of Richardton. Due to working on the farm, he only completed his education through the fifth grade.
In 1948 he went to work for Milwaukee Railroad in New England. Pete enlisted in the United States Army in 1952 and was stationed in Japan. He met Fumiko Sugimoto in 1953 and they were married August 3, 1955 in Tokyo, Japan. They moved to Chicago, IL in 1956. Pete and Fumiko adopted Alfred Krug in May 1960 from Pete’s sister, Agnes Krug. He worked at Indiana Grain from 1964 until 1993 and at that time they moved to Dickinson.
He was a member of the St. Anthony Club, loved fishing, and tinkering on home improvement projects.
Pete is survived by his son, Alfred (Yvette) Krug, Montgomery, IL; grandson, Alec J. Krug; siblings, Caroline (Jerome) Dukart, Dickinson, Agnes Weiler, Dickinson, Eileen (Lester) Dietz, Weipee, Idaho; and sister-in-law, Marce Krug, Richardton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Fumiko, on January 10, 2020; and siblings, Loyd Krug, Lorine Messer, Frank Krug, Shirley Svihl, and Anna Marszalik.
