Rhonda Messer, 42, Dickinson, died Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at MedCenter One, Bismarck after a long battle with cancer. Rhonda’s funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, November 3, 2008 at River of Life Church International, Dickinson, with Rev. James Hessler officiating. Interment will follow at the Dickinson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday and from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Rhonda Sterner was born May 25, 1966 at Casper, Wyo., the daughter of Lee and Karen (Bradley) Sterner. She was raised in Casper until 1979 when they moved to Dickinson, where she completed her education at Dickinson High School, graduating in May 1984.

Rhonda’s son Nathan Roy Lyon was born to her and Denny Lyon in 1984. Rhonda and Nathan moved to Hemet, Calif. in 1987. Briley Lucas Messer was born to Rhonda and Ray Messer on June 19, 1991 and Moriah Lorraine Messer was born On December 1, 1992. They lived in California until 1994 before moving back to Dickinson. Rhonda worked for Sears photography Studios, Wal-Mart Photo Studios, Taco Johns, and most recently for American Express and was looking forward to returning to work with some amazing co-workers and company that treated her so well. Rhonda was active in the Relay-for-Life, and she loved to collect angels.

Rhonda is survived by her two children, Briley and Moriah Messer, Dickinson; her mother, Karen Bergley, Bismarck; her father, Lee (Margaret) Sterner, Wyoming; her siblings, David Maher, Calif., Renae (Mike) Essler, Omaha, Neb., Cathy (Kenny Mosbrucker) Paulson, Dickinson, Dale Sterner and Allen Sterner, Colo.; nieces and nephews, Tosha (Jerimiah Danford)Maher, Chasity (Brad) Privratsky, Brandon Essler, Brittani Essler and D.J. (Tasha Wood) Paulson; and great-nieces and nephews, Gaige Maher, Destinee Maher, Kyla Privratsky, Austin Privratsky and Keira Wood. She was preceded in death by her son and his special friend, Nathan (Jessica Schwindt) Lyon on October 12, 2001; stepfather, Roy Bergley; grandmother, Doris Clabaugh; and grandfather, Henry Bradley.
