Sebastian C. Dutchak, 71, Belfield, died Monday, October 27, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Center. Sebastian’s Parastas will be at 10 a.m., Friday, October 31, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Belfield, with Fr. Taras Miles as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. John’s Ukrainian Cemetery, Belfield. Military honors will be provided by the Belfield American Legion William C. Blair Post #144. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday at the church and will continue one hour prior to service time at the church Friday. There will be a rosary led by Bill Haverluk, and Panakyda Thursday at 7 p.m. at the church.
Sebastian Constantine Dutchak was born to George and Elizabeth (Maslowski) Dutchak on June 26, 1943 at Dickinson. He attended school in Belfield until he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1962. He served honorably until his discharge in 1965.
He worked on the family farm with his brother, Arnold, until he met his future wife, Linda Weinschrott. They were united in marriage at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dickinson, on November 17, 1973. Sebastian and Linda had two children, Kristie Marie, and Shawn Lee. Seb had worked in the oil field, for Billings County, and the City of Belfield to support his family.
Sebastian’s passions in life were hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He enjoyed driving the countryside and visiting with many friends and family. Sebastian had many friends and family. He always had something good to say about everyone. He was helpful, generous and kind to all he met, and always had a willingness to make people smile.
Seb is survived by his wife, Linda; their children, Kristie (Brad) Dutchak, Belfield, and Shawn (Annette) Dutchak, Belfield; his mother, Elizabeth Dutchak, Dickinson; two brothers, Terry Dutchak, New Castle, Wyo., and Clem (Marilyn) Dutchak, Belfield; four sisters, Georgiana (Jim) Fischer, Billings, Mont., Marcella (Gary) Haworth, Billings, Mont., Rosemary Hurt, Dickinson; and Paulette Dutchak, Belfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, George; brother, Arnold Dutchak; and nephews, Taylor Dutchak and Justin Matteson.
