Stanley E. Kittelson, 88, Dickinson, died on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Edgewood Hawks Point, Dickinson. Stanley’s Celebration of Life Service will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dickinson with Rev. Mary Wiggins and Rev. Lisa Lewton officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard. Inurnment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Stanley E. Kittelson was born July 15, 1937 in Rolette, the son of Kerner and Louise (Arstein) Kittelson. He was raised and educated in Rolette, having graduated high school in May of 1956.

Stanley joined the Air Force on May 31, 1956 and served honorably until his discharge on May 30, 1962. Prior to being stationed in Germany, Stanley was united in marriage to Betty Holmly on April 28, 1957.

He began his 39 year career with AT&T, where they lived in Grand Forks, Minot, and Colorado Springs, CO, prior to making Dickinson their permanent home in 1968. He belonged to and was was very active in the Theodore Roosevelt Amateur Radio Club, Elks, Eagles, Stark County Historical Society, and St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Stanley worked at Sears repairing CB Radios and musical instruments for others. As a member of the Radio Club he earned his “Ham” radio license known as “WDØDAJ”. He was very interested in studying and tracing his family’s ancestry and history. They spent winters traveling in their camper, eventually spending their time in Yuma, AZ.

Stanley is survived by his children, Curtis (Julie) Kittelson, Dickinson, and Deborah (Nick) Vollmuth, Bismarck; grandchildren, Nicole (Brian) Seifert, Minot, Eric (Nicole) Kittelson, Dickinson, Mark Vollmuth, Selfridge, and Michelle (Scott) Maslowski, Bismarck; great-grandchildren, Jalyn and Harper Kittelson, David Grunzke; brother-in-law, Shelby (Marcheta) Holmly, Minot; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, on April 14, 2018; his parents; brother, Arthur (Lynda) Kittelson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wendall (Lucille) Holmly, Doyle (Marion) Holmly, and Shirley (Wesly) Walsh.    

Stanley’s family would like to thank Edgewood Hawks Point for their wonderful care for the last three years. Stanley shared his love by sharing candy that was always available outside his door.
