Virginia Ellen Palaniuk, 76, formerly of Belfield, died on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at her home, surrounded by family. Virginia’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church with Fr. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fairfield. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m. with Deacon Al Schwindt presiding.
Virginia Ellen Piotrowski was born on September 29, 1946 in Belfield, the daughter of Charles and Josephine (Duletski) Piotrowski. She was one of thirteen children and attended school in Belfield. Virginia married Max Palaniuk on July 10, 1969 at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church. They lived, worked and raised their three children in the Fairfield and Belfield area. They owned and operated the Club-85 for 12 years, and then over the years Virginia worked at the Dickinson Hockey Club and Super Pumper. In September, 2022, she was diagnosed with lung cancer and moved to Beulah, where she spent the remainder of her time.
Virginia enjoyed camping and fishing, sewing, knitting washcloths for family and friends, cooking and baking, playing cards, putting together jigsaw puzzles, watching Hallmark movies.
Virginia is survived by her three children, Joanie Palaniuk, Stanton, Dennis (Jessica) Palaniuk, Beulah, and Sandi Palaniuk, Belfield; three grandchildren, Tanner Palaniuk, Cassidy Grossman, and Garrett Palaniuk; her siblings, Leonard Piotrowski, Austin, Texas, Larry Piotrowski, New England, Chuck (LaRae) Piotrowski, Dickinson, Victoria Schneider, Dickinson, Brenda (Edward) Roller, Belfield, Charlene (Eddie) Praus, Hettinger; brother-in-law, George Hoffman, Belfield; sister-in-law, Ardyce Palaniuk, Dickinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max; brothers, Joseph and John; sisters, Barbara Lawrence, Marie Cerkoney, Marjorie Hoffman; sisters-in-law, Gail Piotrowski and Pat Piotrowski; and brothers-in-law, Slim Lawrence, Ernest Schneider, and Emil Cerkoney.
