Virginia “Virgie” Brydl, 72, Dickinson died Saturday, November 22, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson following a long battle against various illnesses. In the end, she succumbed to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) complicated by multiple myeloma. Virgie’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Todd Kreitinger as the celebrant. Inurnment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan on Wednesday.

Virginia Kostelecky was born March 7, 1936 to Anton “Tony” and Hattie (Kralicek) Kostelecky. She grew up on a farm near Dickinson, attended several country farm schools and graduated from Dickinson High School. After graduation, Virginia attended stewardess flight school and became employed by Alaska Airlines. She returned to Dickinson to marry Raymond Brydl on October 6, 1958. After a brief relocation to Cocoa, Fla., they returned home to Dickinson to raise their six children.

By far, Virginia’s favorite thing to do was spending time with her family, but also enjoyed bargain shopping, fishing and eating chocolate. A recent highlight of her life, was celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary with her entire family in the Black Hills.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond; their six children, Paula (Kelly) Sullivan, Rapid City, S.D., Stephanie (Bill) Page, Las Vegas, Nev., Dan (Deb), Springfield, Ill., Dave (Gail), Broomfield, Colo., Jean (Todd) Ficek, Dickinson, and Paul (Cassie), Dickinson; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Dick (Marjean) Kostelecky, Bismarck; and one sister, Rogie Kostelecky, Dickinson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Hattie.
